History

Since 1999 Hemp and Company has been providing eco savvy customers with comfortable natural clothing that doesn't cost the earth.

Hemp and Company began as a small specialty shop in Nelson BC in 1999 and is now one of the largest eco friendly clothing stores in North America. Our beautiful 2500 square foot shop is located in the heart of downtown Victoria, easily accessible for our local customers and visitors alike.

Since the very beginning, our mandate has been to expand awareness about the many amazing qualities of hemp and to offer comfortable durable clothing in modern yet timeless styles. We currently carry over 50 different brands of organic and eco friendly clothing, bodycare and accessories lines. Approx 60% of our inventory is Canadian made, and our own line of Hemp and Company Originals and Essentials is designed and manufactured entirely in Canada!

Hemp and Company Originals and Essentials

Our own line of Clothing is designed and manufactured entirely in Canada- much of it within 100 miles of our shop!

In house designers Gabriel Conroy, Aaren Madden and Mary Joyce produce two main collections a year ( Spring and Fall) as well as the occasional mini collection for when they just can’t wait to show you their new creations!

Clothing is cut and sewn at one of three manufacturers in Victoria, Vancouver and Winnipeg. We have been working with these companies for years and we are honoured to consider them part of the Hemp and Company family!

We use a variety of imported natural fibres such as hemp, organic cotton and bamboo. Our signature fabric is a hemp and organic cotton blend, custom dyed in Winnipeg using low impact dyes and a 100% uptake process. We offer unique colors each season in shades such as lichen, terracotta and mulberry- colors inspired by the natural world and perfectly at home on our beautiful West Coast.
